Place Cards vs. Escort Cards

Planning the best stationery for your reception can be challenging. Do you need place setting menus, or buffet signs? The most common question we receive at Noteworthy Ink is the difference between place cards and escort cards, and whether they are necessary.

Place cards are used to assign seating, and are placed at each guest's plate in advance of the reception.

Escort cards on the other hand, are used when guests can choose their seating, and can be arranged in a creative display and taken by your guest to their chosen seat.

Why use place cards and escort cards?  They are especially helpful if your guests have chosen specific entrees (usually on their reply card), and if this information needs to be relayed to serving staff. Each card can display the guest's name, as well as a picture or word of their order (i.e. "chicken").
